The Milford Chamber of Commerce Legislative Action Committee will present the 2014 State of the City address by Mayor Benjamin G. Blake Friday, May 16, at Aldario’s Restaurant, 240 Naugatuck Avenue, at noon.
“We look forward to hosting this informative presentation made by Mayor Blake,” said Kathleen Alagno, Chamber president and CEO. “His positive yearly update is always welcome.”
In addition to the mayor’s address, the Milford Chamber of Commerce will present its annual award scholarships to 23 students from the Milford area.
The scholarships are granted for various fields of study and all scholarship winners will be present at the event to receive their awards. The $19,500 in scholarships is funded through the Milford Chamber of Commerce Trust and its annual fund-raiser, the BIC Golf Classic, which takes place in July.
“We are pleased to foster the educational goals of our city’s youth through these annual scholarships,” said Christopher Carveth, chairman of the scholarship committee. “We wish all applicants the best in their future endeavors.”
