Annual Milford Harbor Duck Race is today

The ducks are coming.

On Sunday, May 4, the annual Milford Harbor Duck Race will be held in Downtown Milford from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fowler Pavilion, located behind the Milford Public Library and next to the Wepawaug River.

The popular event begins at 11 a.m. with a craft fair, food, entertainment, giveaways and thousands of  rubber ducks.

The day includes a Corporate Duck Race for businesses at noon with top prizes from Stonebridge Restaurant, Bin 100, SBC Restaurant, Sloppy Jose's, Indigo by the Water and Jeffrey's.

The signature Milford Harbor Duck Race takes place at 2 p.m. People of all ages will flock to the river's edge and watch a sea of yellow rubber ducks race down the falls, giving “duck owners” a chance to win one of 96 prizes.

The race will be kicked off by a welcome from Milford Mayor Ben Blake.

Anyone can become a “duck owner” by purchasing duck raffle certificates for $5 at one of many stores, including Café Atlantique, Canvas Patch, Milford Green Pizza, Sweet Cupcasions, Liquid Lunch, Teri Anna's Ceramic Studio, PC Richard's, Rita's Ice of Milford, Title Boxing Club, Valentine's, Whole Foods and at the event itself.

The duck raffle certificates are numbered and will correspond with a number located on the bottom of each rubber race duck. As the ducks finish their race, they will soar through a funnel one by one. The first 96 ducks to finish the race will win their owners one of 96 raffle prizes, which include a Kissimee, Polynesian Isle resort vacation, a week in Orlando, Fla. at Vistana Resorts, a 40” Samsung LCD LED TV, and more.

Race winners do not need to be present to win.

Radio Personalities, Chaz and AJ, will be emcees for the day. There will be a live musical performance from Faye Green.  There will also be two magical performances by the amazing Kayla Drescher.

Title Boxing of Milford will be doing demonstrations.

There also will be face painting, inflatables, caricatures, Touch a Fire truck and photo booth and more.

The Milford Harbor Duck Race is sponsored by: The Milford Bank, Wiz Leasing, Teri Anna's Ceramic Studio, Shop Rite,  Milford Green Pizza, P.C. Richard & Son, Whole Foods,  Kay Generator Company, Pond Point Animal Hospital, and  Indigo by the Water.
