• Pat Dray, president of Orange Garden Club, presented a check for $200 to Denise Stein and Joan Cretella, director of Orange Community Services, to be evenly divided between the food bank and the fuel bank. The funds were raised at the club’s recent annual silver tea.

• Claire Lagarde of Milford, won third place in the Junior Division at the Sacred Heart Academy Science Fair. All winners will be advancing to the state science fair at Quinnipiac University in March. Her project, with Vivian Wang of North Branford, was “Toxic Tenders: Detecting Hazardous Byproducts of Lipid Peroxidation in Fried Foods.”

• Michael Aiardo, of Orange, graduated from Roger Williams University with a B.S. in architecture in December 2016.

• A team from Amity Middle School Bethany will be in the regional competition Feb. 25 at the University of Connecticut, Storrs for the National Science Bowl.

• Nathan Brownstein, a graduate of Amity Regional High School, has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester at the College of Wooster. Brownstein is a junior biochemistry and molecular biology major from Bethany.

• Connecticut College has named the following students to the dean’s list for the 2016 fall semester: Francesca Ferrante, class of 2018 of Bethany, Dean’s High Honors, biological sciences, Italian studies; Tyler Clark, class of 2019, of Milford, Dean’s High Honors, mathematics, physics.

• Katherine D. Boynton of Orange, a member of the class of 2017, is on St. Lawrence University’s Dean’s List for academic achievement during the fall 2016 semester. She is majoring in biology. Boynton attended the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy.

• Local residents on the Stevenson University fall 2016 Dean’s List are: Kyra Blacketter of Milford, Ariel Loewenthal of Orange.

• Miami University hockey player Colin Sullivan, a history major from Milford, has been named to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference’s Academic All-Conference team. He is one of 11 RedHawks to receive the honor, which sets a program high.

• Lauren Fraser of Milford, class of 2018 majoring in civil engineeirng at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, was a member of a student team that recently completed an intense, hands-on research project in Morocco. The project was titled “Developing a GIS for the Oudayas Kasbah of Rabat.”

• Katlyn Breitenbach was named to the Dean’s List at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for the fall 2016.
