SOCCER: Travis girls top Kempner, 1-0

A recap of soccer action in Fort Bend ISD from Tuesday night.


Travis 1, Kempner 0

Connor Ryder's second-half goal gave Travis (4-2-2) what could be three crucial points in the race for the playoffs. Ryder beat a defender on the dribble and then hit a shot from 25-30 yards away that floated over the goalkeeper and into the net. Kempner (5-2-1) has lost two in a row.

Austin 2, Dulles 0

Austin (7-0-1) scored in the first eight minutes and again in the final minute to extend its streak of unbeaten district games to 85. Goalkeeper Dana Layne made 12 saves for Dulles (3-3-2). Dulles had five shots on target.

Clements 3, Hightower 1

Paige Lambert scored all three goals for Clements (6-0-2) as the Lady Rangers surged into sole possession of second place. Lizzy Denton, Sally Dillick and Tory Diehl each had one assist for Clements. Mackenzie Alexander and Theresa Nguyen split time in goal for Clements. Emma Biba scored for Hightower (3-3-2). Yesica Gonzalez had the assist. Hightower goalkeeper Amanda McIntire made six saves.

Elkins 10, Bush 0

Alicia Cooper, Katie Depuma and Dani Breeding each scored two goals for Elkins (4-2-2). Sara Pena, Tatiana Rodriguez, Annie Donovan and Katherine Civitillo each scord one goal. Bush (1-7) has lost seven in a row.


Travis 1*, Kempner 1

Travis (4-2-2) earned the extra point for the standings by winning the shootout. Mason Rieman scored in regulation for Kempner (6-1-1).

Clements 2, Hightower 0

Two second-half goals helped Clements (8-0) remain undefeated and untied in district play. Tega Umaka had one goal and one assist, and Connor Murphy scored one goal. Kevin Matthews had one assist. Hightower is 3-4-1.

Austin 6, Dulles 1

Austin (6-2) scored four goals in the first 10 minutes. Austin's six goal scorers were Otney Crawford, Alistair Longshaw, Lake Hood, Ahmed Sakatan, Nick Bosse and Casey Sherman. Milton Parraga scored for Dulles (1-6-1).

Bush 3, Elkins 2

Luis Sosa scored two goals and Donovan Larios one goal as Bush (3-4-1) earned a desperately needed victory. Carlos Garcia had one assist for Bush. Lawrence Giannotti and Sam Gallegos scored goals for Elkins (4-4). Chad Chavez and Rolando Ramirez-Hernandez each had one assist.

Willowridge 2*, Marshall 2

Willowridge (0-7-1) earned its first points of the season by winning the shootout. Criss Martinez and Max Roque-Macias each scored a goal for Marshall (1-6-1). Raul Hernandez and Edgardo Martinez each had one assist.
