Note to readers
Gov. Ned Lamont on Friday issued an executive order, called Stay Safe, Stay Home, requiring non-essential workers to stay home to promote social distancing and slow the spread of the coronavirus. This order will become effective at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 23 through Wednesday, April 22, unless modified, extended or terminated by the governor.
The Hearst Connecticut Media Group is exempt from this requirement because we are considered an essential operation as we provide critical information to our readers and our community. Therefore, we will continue our normal print and digital publishing of newspapers during this time.
For many years, our group of daily and weekly newspapers has continually printed, including during severe winter storms and other disasters. This time will be no different. Our readers rely on us for accurate, reliable and dispassionate news at times of crisis.
Our journalists will continue to be in the communities they serve, while adhering to health and safety guidelines. As a precaution, HCMG has closed its offices to enable staff to work from home or remotely while maintaining social distancing and other important guidance.
To that end, we will continue our current operations as we maintain our commitment to deliver your news online and in print.
Things are changing rapidly as we all fight to control the spread of the disease, we do hope all of our readers stay safe during this crisis.
