Courtesy of deVOL KitchensA Cornwall home's kitchen renovation was recently featured on season two of Magnolia Network's "For the Love of Kitchens," a UK-based design show that specializes in revamping kitchens. Magnolia Network was founded by Chip and Joanna Gaines, known for HGTV's "Fixer Upper," on which they flip homes in Waco, Texas, as well as for their lifestyle brand Magnolia Home.
In the series, deVOL Kitchens duo Paul O'Leary and Helen Parker renovate kitchens across England, redoing dark and dusty cooking spaces and giving them life through new cabinetry, appliances and fresh designs. However, on the ninth episode of the second season, the show did something new — it visited a home in Connecticut.
In the episode titled "A Connecticut Home," O'Leary and Parker embarked on the Cornwall project because they were visiting deVOL Kitchen's New York City showroom. Cornwall homeowners Marina and Robert said that they live Monday - Friday in Brooklyn, New York, but spend most weekends at their Connecticut home with Marina's two children, Blaise and Paloma, and their family dog, Frankie Lou.
The homeowners complained of the lack of functionality of their kitchen before the renovation. They wanted a kitchen that could be a centerpiece for their home.
In the episode, the deVOL Kitchens team can be seen adding shaker cabinets, pleated porcelain lights and a oversized brass sink to the space. The copper-topped island was added to be the focal point of the kitchen, and a window seat overlooking the oversized bay window was also added as a compromise when Marina wanted a couch in the kitchen and Robert was not so sure. To finish it off, O'Leary and Parker incorporated the homeowners' love of antiques into the space in the design and decoration of the space.
"To actually have it finished and actually use it is amazing," Robert said. "Couldn't be happier, truly."
