Lifetime movie 'The Christmas Fix' starring Maria Menounos filming in CT

From a Hallmark movie starring Chad Michael Murray to a Netflix Christmas movie starring Justin Hartley, Connecticut has served as the backdrop for many movies this spring and summer. And another Christmas movie is already filming in Connecticut.

In a July 28 appearance by entertainment reporter and actress Maria Menounos on "Live with Kelly and Ryan," Menounos confirmed that she will be starring in the Lifetime holiday film alongside country music singer Jana Kramer and former "Chuck" actor Ryan McPartlin. She told co-host Ryan Seacrest that she will be portraying the character of Jenny, the sister of Coop (played by McPartlin), who tries to rekindle the relationship between Coop and Sam (played by Kramer).

According to filming permits from the city of New London, a movie called “The Christmas Fix” filmed in the area on Monday, July 19. Economic Development Coordinator Elizabeth Nocera said in an email that the production was setting up on Friday, July 16 for the Monday shoot date, and filmed at Muddy Waters Café on Bank Street.

In a Facebook post, the café announced that it would be closed to be used as the Christmas movie's location. According to owner David Preka, while he can't reveal too much about the film, he said being selected to serve as the film's location is "an honor."

"[The director] came in, and literally within a minute, says 'This is the spot,'" Preka said. "We are very pleased...Our customers are happy. We've been receiving so much support — it's been one busy week."

Preka also noted that the café has "other inquiries about other potential movies" to be filmed at his New London eatery.

The Christmas movie also filmed at the Mystic Seaport Village Green. According to Menounos, the film will be released in time for Christmas 2021.
