Milford-based nonprofit, Halle\u2019s Hope, will hold its first annual Run for the Stars 5k road race and a special children\u2019s race, the Shooting Stars Color Run, on June 20. The event begins Saturday, June 20 at 8:30 a.m. with the Shooting Stars Color Run \u2014 a quarter-mile run for kids 3 to 12 years-old, held at the Walnut Beach Pavilion, 115 East Broadway, Milford. It is an untimed run and each of the young participants begins in a clean white T-shirt and sunglasses provided by Halle\u2019s Hope. Along the race course, children are \u201cpainted\u201d with the colors of Halle\u2019s Hope. All young runners receive a finisher\u2019s medal. Following the kids\u2019 race, is the Run for the Stars 5K which takes off at 9:30 a.m. from Walnut Beach Pavilion, travels through Silver Sands State Park and concludes back at the Pavilion. The Last Mile Racing, official timers of the Boston Marathon, has been contracted to professionally time the event and handle registration. Trophies will go to the fastest male and female runners. \u201cWe are so excited to launch our first annual run, welcoming runners and walkers, kids and adults, to join in on the fun,\u201d said Marilee Root, President of Halle\u2019s Hope. \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to a beautiful morning and thrilled to spread Halle\u2019s Hope.\u201dDuring the 5k, from around 9:30 a.m. to10:30 a.m., there will be a complimentary Kids Tent with professional child-care for children of registered runners; sponsored and provided by Lordship Learning Tree. Before and after the races, there will be food and beverages provided to the runners. From 10 a.m. to noon, there will be a beer tent for the 21 and over crowd, provided by sponsor Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Halle\u2019s Hope was founded in memory of Milford kindergarten student, Halle Anne Root, who died in December 2012. The organization works to honor the five year-old\u2019s spirit by spreading hope and helping children and families.
