Milford Irish Festival is Sept. 16 and 17
The 11th Annual Milford Irish Festival will take place Friday, Sept. 16, and Saturday, Sept. 17, in downtown Milford.
The festival will have Irish music, dancing, culture, food and drink, plus a variety of Irish wares for sale. Admission is $5 Friday and $12 Saturday per person 13 years old and older. A two-day pass is $15.
Hours are 6 to 11 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, rain or shine.
The festival takes place at the Fowler Field Rotary Pavilion, behind the Milford Public Library, 57 New Haven Avenue.
Entertainment will include Donal O’Shaughnessy, Keltic Kick, Highland Rovers, The Coracles, Bobby Morrill, The Mulkerin School of Irish Dancing, Lenihan School of Irish Dancing, Jolly Beggars and Emish and The Druids.
There will be corned beef, shepherd’s pie, brats, hot dogs, baked potatoes, kettle corn and Italian ices, as well as water, soda, Guinness, Harp and other beers, Twisted Tea, Smirnoff Ice, hard cider and wine.
The Irish Marketplace will have Irish clothing, crafts and gifts.
There also will be a cultural tent with Irish coffee and baked goods.
All children’s activities are free. On Friday, children’s activities will be available between 6 and 8 p.m., with an entertainer from 7 to 8 p.m.
On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. there will be face painting, coloring, plant-a-shamrock, games and prizes, step dancing demonstrations, a bounce house and more.
There is no parking at the festival site except for the handicapped and vendor parking. Free shuttle bus service will be available to and from the Parsons Center.
