Irish music — Join the Shamrogues, the performance group of the Shamrock Traditional Irish Music Society, for an evening of holiday cheer and traditional Irish music at St. Gabriel’s Parish Hall, 26 Broadway, on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 7:45 p.m. Sponsored by the P.V. O’Donnell Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, the session is free and musicians and guests are welcome to attend and participate. Shamrogue band members come from throughout Connecticut and perform in the time-honored traditional style of their ancestors. They appear regularly in all the major Irish festivals throughout the region and have won numerous individual awards in the musical competitions known as the “Feis.” Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann was founded in 1951 in Ireland to promote Irish traditional music, song, dance and language.
