Lucia Chapter #25 Order of the Eastern Star of Milford will hold a ziti and meatball dinner on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Masonic Lodge Hall, 59 Broad Street. Donations are $7.50 for adults and $3.50 for children ages 5-12. There will be no charge for children under 5 years of age. Tickets are available from any member of Lucia Chapter. In recognition of National Senior Center Month, the employees at the Milford Senior Center invite Milford seniors to an open house at the center, Tuesday, Sept. 29, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A complimentary lunch will be available at noon in the dining room. Entertainment will begin in the auditorium at 1 p.m. There will be a tour of the building to observe the many activities, programs and services available. The Milford Recreation Department’s Benson-Crump Memorial Community Gardens Program will hold its annual Autumn Garlic Festival at the gazebo on the Milford Green in downtown Milford on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, Oct. 4.
Uganda Farmers Inc. is a nonprofit organization that brings clean, running water to remote villages in Africa. The main fundraiser is the Running Water for Africa 5K Race/Walk being held on Saturday, Oct. 3, starting at 9 a.m. at a new location this year, Walnut Beach. Specially designed t-shirts will be provided to all pre-registered and the first 60 registrants on race day. The proceeds of this year’s event will benefit the village of Nganiko. The Milford Hospital Auxiliary will host its annual Scholarship Tea on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Milford Yacht Club, 131 Trumbull Ave. A fashion show featuring clothing and accessories from the Enchanted Window Gift Shop will highlight the gathering and will be available at a 20% discount, cash or checks. Tickets are $25 and include coffee, tea, tea sandwiches and desserts. The 4th Annual Milford Trick or Trot 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Beth-El Center will take place on Saturday, Oct. 31. Sign in begins at 7:30 a.m., Kids Fun Run at 8:45 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m. from Lisman Landing in Downtown Milford. Breakfast is included. Halloween costumes welcomed.
