Celtic music program March 12 at Milford Library

Note: The following event is at 3 p.m., not 2 p.m., is listed inaccurately in some publications.

There will be singing, bagpiping and Highland dancing as Maggie Carchrie and Friends bring a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration to the Milford Library March 12 at 3 p.m.

“Many people do not realize that St. Patrick, the patron Saint of Ireland, was actually born in an area of modern-day Scotland,” program organizers said.

“The interconnectedness of the two countries began around this time, 500 AD, and Maggie will help to both entertain and educate her audience on the many traditions and customs of Celtic culture.”

People may find themselves singing along to “Danny Boy” or learning a chorus to a famous Irish song. Both contemporary and traditional Irish songs will be sung along with pipe tunes played and the dancing of the Irish Jig — Scottish style.

The program is free and open to the public and does not require registration.

It is funded by the Friends of Milford Library.
