The Milford Arts Council has come up with a new fundraiser that members say the entire community will enjoy: The Great MAC Scavenger Hunt.

The event is set for Sunday, July 16, 4 to 8 p.m., and offers a $1,000 grand prize for a team that completes a series of “photo tasks” around Milford.

Each team will receive a list of 30 creative photos to take around town. In order to be in the drawing for the $1,000 cash award, each team must complete 20 out of 30 tasks, with additional tasks above 20 adding to the chances of winning. In order to be counted, each photo must show the requested task with all team members (minus the photographer) in the photo.

Tickets to the event include an after-party at 6 p.m. at MAC, 40 Railroad Avenue South. The party will feature entertainment, free food, a cash bar and extra chances to win prizes with the purchase of raffle tickets. The Great Scavenger Hunt photos will be streaming throughout the party on a giant screen for all to enjoy.

MAC Executive Director Paige Miglio said she is excited about this new fundraising idea.

“Our new board of directors believes that the idea of a communal event is a wonderful way to bring many different people of all ages together,” Miglio said. “MAC has a desire to connect the community through the arts, and we are excited that the scavenger hunt will introduce this concept.

“We are also thrilled to be able to show off our new building renovations which were made possible by a state awarded program called Good to Great,” Miglio added. “We believe that the entire Milford community will enjoy our fabulous upcoming season of concerts, theatre and exhibits. This scavenger hunt gives us a chance to introduce the community to all of it.”

Participants may register and find instructions at  www.milfordarts.org/specialevents. The community is encouraged to register early, as space will be limited for the after party. Tickets for adults over 21 will be $35 prior to July 16, and $40 on day of event; $10 for 12- to 20-year-olds and free for those under 12.

Milford Arts Council is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1971. MAC presents community theatre, live music concerts with international, regional and local talent, exhibitions, classes, workshops, films and lectures.
