Milford Library hosts ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’

Local actor Colin Lane will perform a dramatic reading of Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas in Wales, on Monday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Milford Public library, 57 New Haven Avenue.

Lane, originally from Ireland, inhabits the role with charm and wit, according to library staff.

“This is a story I love coming back to,” Lane said. “It never loses its humor, and it embodies the spirit of children at Christmas.”

Lane will be accompanied on accordion by Rebecca Zaretzky. Program organizers said her high, clear soprano voice brings a special poignancy as she sings some of the old carols.

“Together they bring love, humor and pathos to the story of a small boy experiencing Christmas and all its wonder,” according to a program press release. “This performance will charm you, and you will leave with the spirit of the holidays in your heart.”

The program is funded by the Friends of Milford Library, and is free and open to the public.  No reservations are necessary.
