Pantochino Productions Inc., a professional non-profit theatre company for family audiences in Downtown Milford, has been recognized nationally, receiving nine BroadwayWorld Awards for its work in the Connecticut region. Milford resident Jay Maroney was named Best Young Actor for his work in “The Wicked Witch of the West: Kansas or Bust."

BroadwayWorld is an award-winning website for Broadway, theatre and live entertainment, offering breaking news, reviews, features, ticket offers and more. This year, more than 60 regions participated in the annual awards. In Connecticut, Pantochino Productions received top votes in 11 categories.

Pantochino’s other winners include Best Director of a Musical, Bert Bernardi (“The Wicked Witch of the West: Kansas or Bust”); Best Actress in a Musical, Shelley Marsh Poggio (“The Wicked Witch of the West: Kansas or Bust”); Best Featured Actress in a Musical, Maria Berte (“Cinderella Italiano”); Best Young Actress, Cassie Gerace (“Cinderella Italiano”); Best Costume Design, Jimmy Johansmeyer (“Cinderella Italiano”); Best Set Design, Von Del Mar (“Christmas at Santa Claus Station”); Best Sound Design, Nathaniel Dobas (“The Wicked Witch of the West: Kansas or Bust”) and Best Connecticut Playwright, Bert Bernardi, “The Wicked Witch of the West: Kansas or Bust."

Pantochino Productions Inc. is now in its fifth season, producing 100% original musical theatre for family audiences. The company presents its shows at the Milford  Center for the Arts in Downtown Milford and also has studio space in the former St. Ann School. In addition to its original musical theatre, the company also tours its shows to area schools and venues, hosts After School Drama Clubs in schools throughout the region, presents a Teen Theatre program and a Summer Theatre Camp series and with the Milford Arts Council presents Nite Spot Nights.
