A Milford man was arrested Wednesday, Aug. 29, after Monroe police said he strangled and assaulted a person at a home on Cutlers Farm Road in Monroe.
Police said officers were called to the Cutlers Farm Road home about 3 p.m. that day on a report of a domestic altercation. The victim told police that they met with 23-year-old Raymond Pizarro, Jr., at the home for lunch, and during that time, a verbal argument began.
When the victim attempted to leave the residence, police said Pizarro Jr. threw them to the ground and began to physically assault the victim. Police said during the physical assault, Pizarro Jr. began to strangle the victim, until the point that they could not breathe. Police said the victim was able to break free from Pizarro Jr. and as they fled, he began to throw glass jars at the victim, injuring the victim’s toe. The victim attempted to call 911, but police said Pizarro Jr. grabbed the cell phone from them and smashed it on the driveway. Police said the victim was able to escape and report the incident to the police.
Pizarro, Jr., was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, interfering with an emergency call, third-degree assault, and second-degree strangulation/suffocate. He was located by the Monroe Police Department and arrested for the above charges and held on a $75,000 bond. He was unable to post bond and was transported to Bridgeport Superior Court for arraignment on Thursday, Aug. 30.
