State Rep. Kim Rose this week announced that construction of a boat launch and parking lot project in Milford is moving forward.
“We will get our boat ramp safe and operable again with an estimated completion date of May 19, 2019,” Rose says in a letter to constituents.
She said in a separate message, “This is great news, I’ve received tons of emails on this and have been working with the DOT Commissioner to get this project to move forward.”
In her constituent letter, she says the Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing ongoing projects and construction activities across the state including the Moses Wheeler Breakout Project that will begin around May 21, 2018 and will continue Monday through Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm.
“The project includes the demolition of the existing steel trestles on each side of the Housatonic River used to reconstruct the Moses Wheeler Bridge (Project 138-221), excavation of tidal wetland areas on each side, removal of invasive plant species and the planting of native species,” Rose writes. “The work also includes creation of new tidal wetland habitat on both sides of the Housatonic River, and the aforementioned boat launch.
“In addition, there will be access road improvements on either side of the river, and construction of a new parking area for the boat launch on the Milford side.
“There will be no roadway closures and no Housatonic River navigational closures expected for the demolition of the existing trestle system on either side.”
