Men charged with trying to steal from truck

Two men and two juveniles were caught early in the morning May 15 allegedly stealing items from a truck.

Milford police responded to the area of Kings Highway and Mark Street at about 2:15 a.m. May 15 on the report of men attempting to take items from a truck box. Officers arrived and found the vehicle that had been described in connection with the theft parked in a residential driveway, its occupants trying to hide from police.

According to police, officers made contact with the men inside the truck: William Higgins, 18, of 3 Carriage Drive, West Haven, and Stephen Verity, 27, of 219 Naugatuck Avenue, Milford, and two juveniles.

The complainant was able to identify the men as the ones attempting to take the items from the truck box, police said.

Higgins was charged with larceny 6th, conspiracy to commit larceny 6th, and risk of injury. Bond was set at $1,000, and he is scheduled to go to court June 12.

Verity was charged with criminal attempt at larceny 6th, conspiracy to commit larceny 6th and risk of injury. His bond was set at $5,000 for a June 12 court date.
