Lauralton Hall athletes sign letters of intent

Four student athletes from Lauralton Hall have accepted Division 1 scholarships at a signing ceremony at the all-girls high school in Milford.

The ceremony was attended by the students’ families, teammates, faculty and staff of Lauralton Hall.

Madelyn Monahan, daughter of Matt and Veronica Monahan from Fairfield, will attend Lehigh University in Pennsylvania to play field hockey and plans to major in business and engineering.

Nicole Zaccaro, daughter of Michael and Joan Zaccaro from Newtown, will attend the University of California, Berkeley to play lacrosse.

Elyse Darcy, daughter of Matthew and Marybeth Darcy from East Norwalk, will attend Iona College in New York to play lacrosse and plans to major in entertainment studies.

Christiana Cottrell, daughter of Richard and Georgia Cottrell from Redding, will attend Colgate University in New York to play softball.

“All of the teachers, coaches and teammates of these young women want to congratulate them on their amazing accomplishments and wish them success as they continue their sports careers at the collegiate level,” said Jeanne Cooper, Athletic Director of Lauralton Hall. “Our mission is to provide a comprehensive, diverse, and dynamic athletic program that makes a significant contribution to the overall personal growth and development of each student.”

Lauralton Hall teams have won state championships in basketball, swimming, tennis and softball. Lauralton Hall is a member of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) and is part of the Southern Connecticut Conference.
