Tyyné “Tina” Eileen Postel Catapano, 58, beloved wife of Anthony Joseph Catapano, passed away too young after a courageous 15-month battle with cancer on July 20, 2016.
A lifelong Milford resident, Tyyné was born in Milford Hospital on August 24, 1957. She was the devoted daughter of the late Fred and Jean Postel.
Tyyné was a member of the first graduating class a J.A. Foran High School in 1975. She attended Eastern CT State University as well as the University of New Haven.
A career floral designer, she was the owner of Wild Expressions Floral Designs of Milford for over 25 years. During that time, she was most passionate about creating wildly expressive floral designs for her many local brides-to-be on their wedding day. She was the founder of the CT Wedding Guild, a network of wedding venue professionals.
As a small business owner in the Walnut Beach community Tyyné was a member of the Walnut Beach Business Association. She was an enthusiastic participant in the WBBA monthly art strolls. She organized the WBBA annual Arts and Crafts Festival and was on the WB Summer Music Concert Series committee. Additionally, Tyyné served on the Executive Board of the Beth-El Shelter assisting in their annual fund-raising gala.
Tyyné loved to read for pleasure, crochet, listen to any type of music; walk with her doggie along Hawley Avenue Beach, swim and sit in the sun at the beach, write her blog, (CT Maven), maintain contact with friends and family through her Facebook page and be a nurturing mother, fan, and confidant to her boys.
In addition to her loving husband of 28 years, Tyyné is survived by her three sons: David (Catherine) Mastroianni of Niantic, Massimo and Marcello, both of Milford, two grandchildren, Harper Grace Reeves Catapano and Gabriel David Mastroianni, her sister, Jeannie Matchett of Milford, six nieces, one nephew, six great-nephews and one great-niece, her feline friend, Milagro, and her canine companion, Cammie.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Ann Church, 501 Naugatuck Ave, Milford, CT. Interment will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry Street, Milford. Friends may call on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cody-White Funeral Home.
