Chris Fischer of Ocearch will be on Yankee Fisherman Thursday, June 23, at 1 p.m. at han.network to discuss this summer’s expedition studying sharks off Long Island and New Jersey. You can also watch the show in the video player below (live or on demand):
Using the techniques seen on their shows Shark Men and Shark Wranglers, Fischer and the Ocearch team will hook, study, tag and safely release great whites during an expedition he will highlight during a call from the Ocearch research vessel.
Ocearch is seeking donations to help fund this summer’s work. Click here to support a Kickstarter campaign.
Yankee Fisherman will also catch up with some members of the tournament bass fishing team from Notre Dame of West Haven on Thursday’s show. Taking to the water with other schools in a growing sport with support from CT BASS Nation, the young anglers are getting a taste of competitive fishing.
We’ll also talk about the Fly Fishing Film Tour’s stop in Roscoe, a change in the ban on felt waders in Vermont, a chance to try kayak fishing and a stream cleanup in Connecticut.
Yankee Fisherman, presented by The Dock Shop, airs Thursdays at 1 p.m. on the HAN Network. Previous episodes can be watched on demand or listened to as a podcast.
Yankee Fisherman is hosted by John Kovach, editorial director, host and announcer for the HAN Network. A native of New Jersey, Kovach has fished since his father first took him out as a child. Kovach fishes fresh and salt water, ties flies, dabbles in lure making and promotes conservation, including a leadership role in the Connecticut Council of Trout Unlimited.
