Obituary: Kenneth S. Kubel Sr., 73, of Milford, former Bridgeport police officer

Kenneth S. Kubel Sr., 73, of Milford, 20-year veteran police officer with the City of Bridgeport, died Feb. 21, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford.

Born July 17, 1942, in Bridgeport, son of the late Stanley and Anna Piekutowski Kubel; U.S. Army.

Before his retirement in 1989 he was a 20-year veteran police officer with the City of Bridgeport serving with the K-9 unit along with his dogs, Duke and Max; also employed at Milford Jai Alai, University of Bridgeport and Remington Shaver before going on to work as a security officer at Jewish Senior Services in Fairfield for 20 years before retiring in 2014.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Kubel Jr. and his wife, Ann of Fairfield, daughters, Kathleen Lambert and her husband, Terrence of Seymour and Shelley Bertothy and her husband, Ernie of Bridgeport, seven grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and many cousins.

Also predeceased by a brother, Richard Kubel.  

Services: Wednesday, Feb. 24, 11 a.m., Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Visiting hours: Tuesday, 4-8 p.m.
