Milford Hospital lifts visitor restrictions because flu cases have subsided

Milford Hospital lifted it’s visitor restrictions on Friday, Feb. 15, which had been in place for a month due to the influenza outbreak.

“We have seen a substantial decrease in confirmed cases of influenza and therefore have resumed our normal visitation policies,” said Karen Kipfer, director of community relations. “However, as always, we are asking that anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms refrain from visiting patients.”

In mid-January, as a result of the rapid escalation of influenza in Connecticut, the hospital announced restrictions to it’s visitation policies.  Visitors were limited to immediate family members over the age of 18 and the hospital’s Junior Volunteer Program was suspended.

“This was an important and necessary precaution for us to take in order to keep our patients safe,”  said Kipfer.  “We appreciated the cooperation of our patients, their families, volunteers  and visitors during the restriction period.”
