Police invite residents to learn about neighborhood watch program

With October being “Crime Prevention Month” the Milford Police Department will host two events at the police department, focusing on crime prevention.

On Oct. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Milford Police Department will present an overview of two programs: The “Neighborhood Watch” program, designed to prevent crime and reduce fear in neighborhoods by forging a bond between residents, and the Citizens Academy.

Milford has several active Neighborhood Watch programs and will have representatives from them assisting with the presentation.

The second session will introduce the “Citizens Academy” program.

The Citizens Police Academy consists of a series of classes, held for 2.5 hours once a week for 10 weeks. The instruction is comprehensive, covering different areas of the police department’s services each week.
