Bertrum “Bert” Marshall

Bertrum “Bert” Marshall, 88, husband of the late Ruth Ann Koons Marshall, died Feb. 18, in Milford Health Care.

He was born in New Haven on June 27, 1923

Mr. Marshall served during World War II with the Navy Seabees. He was the owner of his own painting business for more than 30 years.

Bert loved summer as it meant lots of time to work outdoors, eat tomato sandwiches everyday and most of all, having strawberry shortcake for dinner on his birthday in June, his family said. He was a descendant of Edward Doty who came over on the Mayflower.

He is survived by a daughter, Jerri Brown and her husband, Andy; granddaughter, Tricia Izzo and her husband, Joe; and great-grandchildren, Avery and Chase, all of Milford.

He also was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey; and siblings, Vera, Janet, Richard, Kenneth and Bill.

Visiting hours are Thursday, Feb. 23, 6-8 p.m., Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. Burial is Friday, 11:30 a.m., Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford.
