Clifford Abbott Dodd

Clifford Abbott Dodd, a resident of Cape Coral, Fla. for the past 22 years, and a Milford native, husband of Kitty Tyler Dodd for 21 years, died Feb. 15, at home.

He was born Oct. 14, 1952 to John and Kathryne (LeGeyt) Dodd.

Mr. Dodd graduated from Jonathan Law High School before entering the U.S. Air Force. Following four years of service, he graduated from Southern Connecticut State College. He worked at the Sunshine Factory in Milford, and was manager of B. Dalton Booksellers at the Connecticut Post Mall in Milford before moving to Florida in 1992 with his wife, Kitty Tyler.

He and his wife owned and operated April’s Eatery in downtown Fort Myers, Fla. for 18 years until April of 2011 when they sold the business to retire.

After retirement, Mr. Dodd continued to work during the Christmas season at the North Pole within the Bass Pro Shop in Fort Myers, Fla.

While in Connecticut, he was a longtime member of Mary Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church in Milford. He currently was a member and deacon at Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral. He also was a member of the Palm Tree Santas, a Florida Chapter of Real Bearded Santas, and the Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas.

Besides his wife, survivors include two sisters, Cynthia Dodd Maltese (Joe) of West Haven, Priscilla Dodd Ostrowsky (John) of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one brother, Alan Dodd (Dorothy) of Milford; and many nieces and nephews.

Services are Wednesday, Feb. 22, 11 a.m., Faith Presbyterian Church, Cape Coral, Fla.; reception follows.
