Police believe one man responsible for robbery and attempted robbery at two Milford hotels

The Milford Police Department is investigating two incidents that occurred at local hotels over the past few days.

On Feb. 11, at 7:19 p.m., the Milford Police Department received a complaint of an armed robbery at the Red Roof Inn at 10 Rowe Avenue. Police said a man entered the business brandishing a knife, and then walked behind the counter and took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.

On Feb. 13, 2 at 10:15 p.m., the Milford Police Department received a complaint of an attempted armed robbery at the Milford Lodge at 278 Old Gate Lane. Police said a man entered the lodge and displayed a knife and repeatedly demanded money from the employee. He fled the scene after an unsuccessful attempt to climb over the counter, police said.

No one was injured during the incidents.

The description of the suspect in both incidents is very similar, said Police Spokesman Jeff Nielsen. He is described as a black male, 5’8” – 5’10”, 30-40 years of age, thin build, a goatee with a distinguished white mark, wearing a dark knit hat with a logo on the front of it.

Investigators from the Milford and West Haven Police Departments are comparing similarities regarding the two incidents in Milford with an armed robbery at the Hampton Inn in West Haven on Feb. 5, Nielsen said.

Police have been in contact with local hotels and motels regarding these recent incidents, informing them to contact police regarding any suspicious activity at their businesses.
