Former Alderman James Patterson plans to seek the Democratic Party's nomination to run for State Representative in the 119th district.
The boundaries of the 119th District have changed this year to expand the territory into north Milford and reaching into a part of Orange. State Rep. Richard Roy, a Democrat, currently holds the seat but has announced he will not run for reelection.
Patterson served on the Board of Alderman for four terms. During that time, he served on the claims committee, the public safety and health committee, the rules committee and the ordinance committee. Prior to serving on the Board of Alderman, he was appointed to serve on the Inland Wetlands Agency and was elected as the committee's parliamentarian and vice chairman.
Republican Pam Staneski announced earlier this year that she plans to run for the seat on the GOP ticket. Staneski is a former school board member and a former alderman.
