The 2011/2012 Jazz Series at Milford Center for the Arts will conclude Friday, May 18, at 8 p.m., with a performance by Sambeleza. Sambeleza performs a wide variety of Brazilian songs with a jazz twist. Reservations are recommended. Dinner is 6 to 7 p.m. and includes a hot dog, chips, dessert, beverage and unlimited fresh popped popcorn. The movie follows and is free. Dinner is $6, ages 3-5 $3, under 3 is free. “Y” Tri will include three full triathlon events, but at shorter distances: a 300-yard swim (at the Woodruff YMCA facility), followed by a 10-mike bike race and finishing with a three-mile run. The swim is up and down six lanes of the pool for a total of 300 yards. The bike course is a single loop. The run is out and back with the finish under the giant F.I.R.M arch. The Irish Heritage Society of Milford will hold its 5th annual golf outing on May 21 at the Mill River Country Club in Stratford. The price is $165 per golfer, which includes an 11:15 a.m. check-in and luncheon, 12:30 p.m. shotgun start tee time for 18 holes of golf and cart and a 5:30 p.m. “19th hole” reception.
