Jazz series
The 2011/2012 Jazz Series at Milford Center for the Arts will conclude on Friday, May 18, at 8 p.m., with a performance by Sambeleza. Sambeleza performs a wide variety of Brazilian songs, old and new, with a jazz twist. Featured composers include Tom Jobim and Ary Barroso, as well as younger composers like Djavan, Debora Gurgel and Arlindo Cruz. A few originals by group members are added to the mix. Reservations are recommended. Ticket reservations may be made by calling the Milford Fine Arts Council at 203-878-6647 Wednesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or online at milfordarts.org. Ticket price is general admission $20 ($15 for MFAC members) with reserved and limited seating available. Eastbound Theatre, a division of the Milford Fine Arts Council, will hold its third performance of staged readings at the Milford Public Library. “Sidetracks: Unspoken” will be held on Monday, May 21, at 7 p.m. The performance will be free of charge. “Cousins,” by Canadian playwright Christine Foster, finds an anthropologist discovering unique, unlikely bonds with the primates she is studying.
