Lions upset Westies in SCC opener

Kelly Quinn scored 19 points to help the Foran High girls basketball team beat hosts West Haven High, 66-59, on Thursday night in the opening round of the SCC tournament.
Jasmine Rodriquez added 14 points, Teneya McLaughlin 13 and Maggie Folsom 12 for the No. 13 Lions (10-11).
Jayva Johnson led fourth-seeded West Haven (16-5) with 20 points.
Foran will face either No. 5 Cheshire or No. 12 Hamden on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. in the quarterfinals at Sheehan High in Wallingford.
