Foran fourth at SCC meet

Foran High placed fourth at the Southern Connecticut Wrestling Championships held at Daniel Hand in Madison on Sunday. Fresh off winning their first SCC B Division title, coach Frank Peters’ Lions posted 73 points to finish behind Division A teams Xavier-Middletown (203.5), Hand High (192) and Shelton (94.5) in the 15-team event.

C.J. Luth was second at 126 pounds, losing an 8-3 decision to Sean Kellett from Shelton High.

Clay Callahan and Zach Huebler took thirds.

Callahan won his consolation final with a 4-3 victoiry over Guilford’s Nathan Misbach.

Huebler defeated East Haven’s Mike DeMarco, 8-2, in the 170-pound consolation final.

Liam Callahan (106), Luke Stojanowski (138) and Peter Bassine (220) placed fourth.

Liam Callahan was edged out 6-4 by Branford’s Nick Kelsey in the third-place bout.

Stojanowski lost a 7-1 decision in his consolation final to Hand High’s Tucker MacGregor.

Bassine lost by third-period fall in his third-place match to Notre Dame-West Haven’s Camilo Venagas.

Foran will compete in the Class M Championships at Windham High on Friday beginning at 4:30 p.m. and continuing on Saturday at 9:15 a.m.
