Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and Fusion Associates recently donated bicycles to youngsters at the Boys & Girls Club.
Each year, Fusion Associates, a corporate team building company that runs bike building corporate charity events, conducts a team building workshop with Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation employees.
This year’s event resulted in the assembly and donation of 10 bikes to chosen club members of the Milford Boys & Girls Club, ages 7 to 14. In addition to the bikes, the members also received a bike helmet, bike lock and water bottle.
The biggest surprise of the day was that the Sikorsky Aircraft employees got to meet the members they built the bikes for. The employees were unaware that the members receiving the bikes they had assembled were actually at the event, patiently waiting to choose their new bike.
“The club member recipients have been smiling ever since they chose their brand new bikes,” said Megan Altomare, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Milford. “The Boys & Girls Club of Milford and its members consider themselves very lucky to have such an outpour of community support. With the donation of the bikes, the members can continue to pursue a healthy and active lifestyle.”
