In October, the Milford Police Department investigated complaints involving vehicles being stolen from the eastern section of Milford along the Boston Post Road.
Investigators from the Milford, New Haven and Meriden police departments along with members of the Connecticut State Police and FBI Safe Streets Task Force in New Haven worked collaboratively to identify two suspects involved in these thefts and similar thefts involving other jurisdictions.
These suspects were identified as Edward Figueroa, 37, and Katia Silva, 22, both of 68 Sylvan Avenue, New Haven. Two arrest warrants were issued for them regarding one of the reported thefts from Milford.
On Oct. 23, Figueroa was taken into custody in New Haven after being found in possession of a stolen vehicle. Silva was located a short distance from the scene, where she was taken into custody regarding her outstanding arrest warrant from one of the Milford vehicle thefts. The two arrest warrants for the Milford incident were served on both individuals.
Figueroa was charged with larceny 3rd 53a-124 and conspiracy to commit larceny 3rd 53a-48/53a-124 and was held on a $100,000 bond. He was held and arraigned in Milford Superior Court Thursday.
Silva was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny and was released on a promise to appear in court Nov. 19.
After the arrests, investigators executed a search warrant at the home of Figueroa and Silva, which resulted in finding additional vehicle accessories. Additional information and suspects have been developed as a result of these investigations.
