George was born in Budapest, Hungary on September 16, 1920 to the late Elmer and Sarah Schwartz Banet.
He moved to the United States and worked as a Branch Chief in the Department of Juvenile Probation for the City of New York for over 30 years. He earned a purple heart during World War II while enduring the loss of his family during the Holocaust.
He was a soccer star, a tennis lover, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather. He was an encourager, a supporter, and a man who looked to make changes in this complex world.
Survivors include his two daughters, Susan Lombardo (Thomas Girdzis) of Milford and Michelle (Richard) Palamone of Long Island, four granddaughters; Kimberly (Michael) Caravello, Lindsey Lombardo, Jamie Marotta (Michael Stasiuk) and Jenna (Morris) Mete, and one great granddaughter, Leah Caravello.
Friends and Family may call on Saturday, October 19th from 2:00p.m.-4:00p.m. in The Gregory F Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. Interment will be private.
