The Milford Fine Arts Council Trust is offering grant funds to assist in paying expenses for area arts projects.
In the past, these funds have helped provide art endeavors in the city, such as a literary magazine at one of Milford’s schools. Local students and others with ideas for promoting the arts should take advantage of this opportunity to get their ideas off the ground.
The Milford Fine Arts Council is a nonprofit corporation, founded in 1971, to support and encourage the development, acceptance and appreciation of cultural activities. The organization not only organizes events at the Firehouse Gallery and Milford Fine Arts Center — from art shows to plays to art competitions — it also spurs the arts outside its walls with initiatives like this grant program.
Milford residents attending middle school, high school or college may apply.
The projects will be judged on merit and on the way they benefit an individual or the community. The medium may be art, dance, music, painting, performing arts, video, or film production.
The trust will normally grant up to $300 per selected application, with consideration, upon merit, for additional funding.
Applications are available through the Milford Fine Arts Council office at 40 Railroad Avenue South on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:30 to 5. Applicants also may email firstname.lastname@example.org or go to milfordarts.org for information.
Completed applications are due Oct. 31. Awards will be announced in December. Those who receive grants will be asked to file project reports 30 days after completing their projects.
