John Laychak can put one tick mark on his baseball bucket list after this past weekend.
Laychak pitched a complete game no-hitter for Mr. Mac’s Canteen Babe Ruth 15U team in their outing against Naugatuck NVSL on Saturday.
Laychak compiled 13 strikeouts, no walks, and no-hit batsmen in a 13-1 victory.
Only two batters reached base for Naugatuck, both of which were the result of Milford fielding errors.
Laychak worked his way through the line-up quickly and effectively with a mix of fast balls, cutters, and an occasional knuckle ball.
Milford’s offense was a group effort of solid hits led by RJ Balado, Jason Barna, Sean Rowland, Matthew Maruottolo, AJ Bolivar and Noah Hubler.
This was Laychak’s third flirt with perfection. As a 14-year-old, he came close on two previous occasions during the fall season, pitching for his Milford Babe Ruth 16U team.
Milford Babe Ruth Manager Brian Rowland said:
“John has great stuff in his arsenal and consistently pitches a quality outing whenever he takes the mound.
“Every time I get to his spot in the pitching rotation, I go into the game knowing we’re going to see a show — nowadays it just comes down to how great the show will be that day.”
