To the Editor:
As a homeowner and taxpayer in Milford’s 118th district, I’d like to discuss the reasons why I’ll be voting for State Representative Kim Rose this fall. Kim has been a tireless fighter for those of us that live here, particularly those of us on the far western edge of Milford.
With regard to probably the most controversial issue in Milford over the past two years, the dump at 990 Naugatuck Ave., Kim has been at the forefront from day one. Communicating directly with residents on a daily basis, Kim directly took on the people trying to push this facility as well as the rubber stamp committee at the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
What she did was no easy task, as the people behind this facility are of questionable morals to say the least, but Kim stood strong with residents. She worked with Democrats and Republicans in getting the laws changed to give power back to municipalities with regard to planning and zoning for these types of garbage facilities.
This is something that will benefit all residents of the state. Her work on this issue has been never-ending and continues to this day.
Kim is an experienced Milford resident who understands the issues that citizens here face. Her time on the Planning and Zoning Board has also served her well. I believe that she is a good voice for moderation and reason. She has acted as a good resident would and that is what we need in my opinion; politicians that act like citizens, not like politicians.
