John Thomas Michaud, Sr., age 70, longtime resident of Milford and beloved husband to Sharon Byers Michaud, passed away on August 24, 2012 at CT Hospice in Branford.
Born on May 16, 1942 in Fort Fairfield, ME., he was the son of the late Gordon T. and Doris Kiernan Michaud.
John was employed for many years as a long distance truck driver for Wm. B. Meyers Company. Upon retirement, he selflessly volunteered his time to the Beth El Center and the Mary Taylor Church and was featured as “Home Town Hero” on News Channel 12.
John enjoyed helping people, listening to country music and driving his truck around Milford.
He was a generous and gracious man who was always there for anyone in need. John was a friend to all.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by his children, Sherilee Flanagan and John T. Michaud, Jr. (Linda), his cherished grandchildren, John T. III, Taylor Lynn, Joshua Michael Michaud and Jason Ellsworth, Nicole Sarah and Sean Kyle Flanagan and his great grandchild Gianna. Also his siblings, Barbara Bird (Bernard) of ME, Alice Connors (Jack) and Kathryn Digiacomo (Gerry) of FL., James Michaud of Branford, sister-in-law Laurie Michaud and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his son, Michael Ciccolini, son-in-law, Gerald Flanagan and brother ,Gordon (Fred) Michaud.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 29th at 11:00 am at Mary Taylor Memorial Methodist, 176 Broad St., Milford. Burial will be private. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, August 28th from 4 to 8 pm at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405 or to the Ahrens Program, c/o Milford Senior Center, 7 Jepson Dr., Milford, CT 06460.
