Scouts will collect food for foodbank at Oyster Fest

Milford Scouts are collaborating with the Annual Milford Oyster Festival, Inc. and the Cornerstone Christian Center Storehouse Food Pantry in their 4th Annual Oyster Festival Food Drive.

Scouts are asking festival goers to bring non-perishable food donations to the two Festival shuttle bus pickup locations, Jonathan Law High School and Westfield Connecticut Post Shopping Mall, on Saturday, Aug. 18, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Storehouse Food Pantry, administered by Cornerstone Christian Center, provides groceries for local families who need assistance with meeting their weekly food needs. One in seven children under the age of five doesn’t have enough to eat in Connecticut, organizers said.

The 38th Annual Milford Oyster Festival will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Downtown Milford.
