Francis Edward (Frank) Ryan

Francis Edward (Frank) Ryan, age 86, of Milford, husband of Irma (Dyer) Ryan of 61 years, passed away August 2, 2012 in Bridgeport Hospital.

He was born in Dorchester, MA on February 4, 1926.

Frank graduated from High School in Bogota, NJ and Bergen Jr. College in Teaneck, NJ. He also attended the University of Alabama.

During World War II, he served as a Navy Corpsman aboard the USS Dawson in the Asian/Pacific area and was among the first naval groups to occupy the Japanese naval base at Sasebo. He received the Philippine Liberation and American Theatre citations and Victory Metal. In the Korean Conflict he again served in the US Navy attached to the US Marine Base at Parris Island, SC.

A resident of Milford since 1960, he was retired form Norden Systems Division of United Technologies and was a former member of the Milford Elks Club, American Legion and VFW.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Kathi Ryan of Milford, two sons Michael Ryan of Boca Raton, FL., and Glenn Ryan and his wife Ruth of Royal Palm Beach, FL., three grand children Sean, Melissa and Evan all of Florida.

All services will be private. Affordable Cremations 125 N. Broad St. Milford is in charge of arrangements.
