Rona Geib Stoetzer, age 93, of Milford, formerly of Wilton, passed away at her home Wednesday, Feb. 13th 2013 with her loving sons by her side.
Rona was born March 11, 1919 in Carneys Point, NJ.
In 1926 the family moved to Milford where her father and mother, the late Henry Albert, MD and Mary Ellen Geib ran a convalescent home during the depression years.
She was the 1936 valedictorian at Milford High School. She attended Smith College studying in France her junior year. During WWII she went to work for the FBI assisting in the war effort in the cryptanalysis section. Upon solving a German code, she received special recognition from director J. Edgar Hoover.
At war’s end she was sent to Germany to help track assets looted in the war. In 1948 she returned to Washington D.C. and joined the CIA. In 1961 she came back to Connecticut to raise her family.
She is survived by her sons, Anthony of Milford and Eric of Honolulu as well as Eric’s wife Connie and their daughters, Olivia and Kira.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 19th at 1:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church, Gulf St., Milford, CT. Burial will be private and there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St, Milford, CT 06460.
