Elizabeth (“Betty”) Udovich, age 69

Elizabeth (“Betty”) Udovich, age 69, of Fairport, New York, predeceased by her beloved husband John, died on Thursday January 24, 2013 after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Mrs. Udovich was born November 17, 1943 to the late Edward and Genevieve Daca of Milford, Connecticut where she lived her early years and attended public schools and the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall in Milford.

After graduating from Lauralton Hall in 1961 Betty attended Salve Regina College in Newport, Rhode Island where she graduated in 1965 having earned her bachelors degree in elementary education. While at Salve Regina she met her husband John who was an officer candidate at the Newport U.S. Naval Training Command.

Following graduation from college and John’s commissioning as a U.S. Naval Officer, she taught elementary school children in Virginia where John was stationed until the birth of their first child. After John completed his tour in the Navy, he accepted a position with the Xerox Corporation of Rochester, New York and he, Betty, and their growing family moved to nearby Fairport in 1969 where they established their home and Betty lived ever since.

From an early age Betty enjoyed playing the piano and later became an accomplished gardener. She loved dogs and will always be remembered by her family, friends, and all who knew her as a very kind, generous, hospitable and loving person who kept her family together after John’s untimely death in 1977.

She is survived by children (and children’s spouses), John (Niccole), Dave, Tom (Dana), Brian (Donyel) and Natalie; and, 6 grandchildren, Meagan, Jordan, Brooke, Colin, Matthew and John.

Calling hours on January 30th and a Funeral Mass followed by Internment on January 31, 2013 were respectively held at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt location), the Church of the Assumption, and St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fairport.
