Storms force cancellation of school vacation days

File Photo: Dr. Elizabeth Feser, school superintendent, announced an adjustment to the schools’ vacation plans due to storm cancellation days.

School cancellations related to the last week’s blizzard as well as those associated with Hurricane Sandy have forced the Milford public schools to alter the upcoming winter and spring vacations for all schools.

In order to make up for lost school days, Feser has announced the following changes to next week’s scheduled February vacation.

School will be closed on Monday, Feb. 18 in observance of Presidents Day as had been previously scheduled, but schools will re-open on Tuesday, Feb. 19 and classes will be conducted throughout the week, thereby canceling the balance of the February break.

Regarding the April vacation, Feser said, “At this point we will now be open and in session on Thursday, April 18 and Friday, April 19. In other words, we are taking back two days of April vacation, and school will be in session on Thursday and Friday of that week.”

According to the release, schools will still be closed for April vacation from Monday, April 15 through Wednesday, April 17.

“If we need to cancel any additional days going forward, we will continue to deduct them from the remaining days of the April vacation,” Feser said.

The information is being emailed to parents. It will also be posted on the school district website.
