Firefighters responded to what they said was a serious one-car accident at 11 a.m. today at the intersection of North Street and Woodruff Road.
Engine 7, Engine 1, Rescue 1, Tower 1 and Car 4 were dispatched. The first units were enroute at 11:01 and on scene at 11:05. On arrival the units found a single car motor vehicle accident with one occupant suffering severe trauma.
Fire department paramedics began advanced life support in the vehicle while other members used the Hurst Rescue tools to free the entrapped occupant. The motorist was freed from the vehicle at 11:23 and transported to Bridgeport Hospital Trauma unit via AMR ambulance with two Milford Fire Department paramedics on board.
The Milford Police Department has the accident under investigation, fire officials said.
