Indians edge Twins in final

The Milford Junior Major League Mustang Indians and Twins (9-10 division) capped off a fun and competitive season with an exciting game in the tournament championship.

Both teams were supported by strong pitching — Andrew Hertzog, Brett Pisani and Matthew Germanese each pitched two innings for the Indians and struck out five batters each.

Tyler Edwards, Rich Carino, and Jason Giambra combined for 13 strikeouts for the Twins.

At the plate, Kyle Wilkitis had two doubles and drove in two runs for the Twins, who also got run support from Finn Sawitsky and Amanda Kandrach with two RBIs each.

Brianna Brassell, Carino and Giambra also drove in runs for the Twins.

The Indians came back with key hits from Ben Schiff and Pisani, who each scored three runs, and Dylan Ouellette, who hit a bases-loaded triple to put his team up 6-4 in the third inning.

Germanese led his team, going 4-for-4 at the plate and driving in two runs to tie the game at 8 in the fourth, and two more to win it in the fifth, 10-9.
