The marsh at Silver Sands Park is in need of debris and litter removal.

The Great Creek Marsh at Silver Sands is a vital wildlife habitat area that is in need of some hearty volunteers Monday, January 21, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., according to the city’s new open space steward, Steve Johnson.

Gas cans, fencing, back yard sheds, building debris and plastic litter the marsh area, he said.

“Last November, 200 people made a huge difference helping to clean up Sandy storm debris along Silver Beach and at a Silver Sands marsh along West Mayflower Place,” according to Johnson.

People can come for an hour, or as long as they want, to help clean the marsh.

Contact Johnson with any questions and RSVP to skjohnson076@gmail.com.  Dress for the weather and bring winter work gloves.
