Dulin scores 25 in win

Casey Dulin out of Jonathan Law scored a career-high 25 points, leading four Marist College women’s basketball players in double digits, as the Red Foxes defeated Hofstra 85-70 at McCann Arena on Wednesday night.
It was the program’s first win over Hofstra in five matchups.
Dulin shot 7-for-12 from the field, 2-for-2 from three-point range and 9-for-11 from the free-throw line.
The junior added seven rebounds — just one off her career high — to go along with three assists and a blocked shot.
Elizabeth Beynnon scored 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting. Leanne Ockenden and Emma O’Connor contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair as both teams were hitting their shots.
Marist (4-3) used a 7-0 run midway through the period to eliminate a two-point deficit and open a 19-14 lead.
After Hofstra (1-4) scored five unanswered points to tie the score at 19, the Red Foxes responded with a 13-5 run over a 2:41 stretch to open an eight-point lead.
Kristina Danella hit a deep three-pointer while Sydney Coffey and Dulin each hit a pair of free throws and Dulin also added a layup off of a Beynnon assist.
A transition three-pointer by Ockenden gave Marist a 32-24 lead and forced Hofstra to burn a third timeout in the first half.
Hofstra converted a three-point play with seven seconds remaining in the half to take a 40-39 lead into the locker rooms.
At the break, Dulin led all scorers with 15 points, shooting 4-for-6 from the floor and hitting 6-for-7 free throws while also grabbing five rebounds.
The second half opened with each team trading buckets. Marist started 4-for-4 from three-point range in the period, as Ockenden and O’Connor hit two apiece, yet were only able to build a small lead as Hofstra always had an answer.
Finally, the Red Foxes were able to put together a few defensive stands and were able to start pulling away on the strength of a 21-6 run over a span of 6:01 midway through the half, that put them up 77-61 with 6:30 remaining.
Leading the charge was Beynnon, who racked up 10 of her points in the run.
Dulin, Ockenden and Coffey all hit three-pointers as well, as the Red Foxes started the second half 8-for-10 from beyond the three-point arc.
After the Pride closed to within 10 at 80-70 with 1:24 left, Dulin scored the final five points on three free throws and a jumper to give her the career high.
Marist’s 85 points were a season high, and marked the second straight game the Red Foxes topped the 80-point plateau.season.
Marist will return to action on Sunday, when the Red Foxes go on the road to face Big 12 foe Oklahoma.
