Fort Trumbull Beach in Milford is closed to swimmers today due to elevated bacteria levels.

Fort Trumbull Beach in Milford was closed to swimmers late last week due to elevated bacteria levels but is now reopen.

Update: Fort Trumbull Beach is open to swimming following a closure late last week.

The Milford Health Department had closed Fort Trumbull Beach to swimming due to elevated bacteria levels in the water.

Health officials said that water samples collected July 7 and 9 indicated elevated levels.

On Saturday, the health department said water samples showed the bacteria levels had gone down and the water was safe for swimming.

  1. We live near Fort Trumbull Beach, and received a phone call from the city that the beach was closed. It now appears that the beach is open; how about a call from the city letting us know that?
