Nik Griswold second in decathlon competition

Foran High’s Nik Griswold finished second  in the decathlon competition, which took place over the last two days at the Coast Guard Academy.
Griswold (5,749) was in third place at the end of the first day,s competition with strong showings in the long jump (sixth) and the shot put (third).
He was first in the high jump, where he matched his personal best of 6-4.
On the second day of competition, the Lions senior improved to second place overall, after placing sixth in the 110 hurdles fifth in the pole vault and ninth in the javelin.
For Griswold, the Class MM high jump champion and fourth-place finisher at the State Open competition, was 12th in the decathlon as a junior.
Steve Cugini from Foran was a 10th-place finisher in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:525.32.
Sophomore Jessica Centore of Jonathan Law finished in a tie for 10th with 3340 points.
Her best showing came in the high jump on the first day, where she matched her Class meet finish to take fourth.
Centore was consistently strong in all six events to secure her 10th-place finish.
